almond flour - blanched or not?

i found a great deal on almond flour online but i'm curious - does everyone prefer blanched or non-blanched flour for their recipes? i've never used it so i'm not sure what to expect if i leave the skins in....can't imagine they make much of a difference, but folks who have made these recipes should know better than me i'm just getting ready to start trying some of these different yummies.....

Sorry, I have never baked with it so have no idea. I would guess the blanched would have less fat in it due to the blanching process. That would be preferable for baking.

Thanks Linda...I'm eager to give it a shot. I've never baked with it either, but I LOVE to bake and if it works as a suitable alternative for breads and other things, I would be more than happy to spend the extra money on it. Guess I'll know the outcome in a few weeks!!

    I will for sure.

One thing I will note for you and others reading this, almond flour (just like any flour product) should be used in moderation. It's more of a "treat" than it is an every day baking thing. Think about it, when you have almonds, you might sit down and have a handful - say 6-10 maximum? Now...if you have a serving of an almond flour product, you could be eating as many as 30-40 almonds! Almonds do have a high amount of monounsaturated fats in them, which are not necessarily bad for you, but you don't want to overdo it either.

The moral of this is - just like we've learned for P3 - everything in moderation.

EXACTLY RIGHT Sunflower! With most recipes on this site you don't want to eat them every day. The base of your menu should ALWAYS be fresh protein, veggies and fruit.

I could only find Almond Meal not Almond Flour is this the same thing? I found a great stuffing recipe using Almond Flour & eggs instead of bread and really want to give it a try for Thanksgiving.

The texture is courser. Check a health food store for Almond Flour or you can always visit Bob's Red Mill online http://www.bobsredmill.com
