Linda’s HCG Journal
July 19, 2009 Day 1 Load Day #1
I thought eating everything fatty I could get my hands on would be some how like living out a wonderful fantasy diet. You know “let’s lose weight by eating everything bad for you in sight”. WRONG! I don’t know if it is psychological but with the first dose this a.m. my appetite left me. I don’t want to eat. So there has been little joy in eating all the stuff I usually deny myself. I feel like puking and (I can’t believe I am saying this) I absolutely HATE fat and sugar.
July 20, 2009 Day 2 Load Day #2 gained 1.9 lbs.
I don’t want to eat anymore. I hate eating and can’t stomach anything with fat in it. I am full all of the time and I simply can’t wait for tomorrow when I start my 500 calorie diet. At least I won’t have to
Eat ALL THE TIME like the last two days. There really isn't much fun in being full all the time.
Yesterday I thought that it was psychological but I found that HCG really takes your appetite away. I am
going to be very interested to see how the coming days go in terms of how I respond to so little calories. I have never attempted so low a calorie intake and if the HCG doesn’t do what it promised in terms of sufficient energy, I can kiss my working out goodbye.
July 21, 2009 Day 3 VLCD Day #1 gained 0.7 lbs.
VLCD refers to a Very Low Calorie Diet in Dr. Simeon’s book. As I plan to share this journal with other people who are interested I wanted to use the terms in his protocol so my reader can become familiar with the terms. Dr. Simeon said not to worry about the weight gained on the loading days as it will come off very quickly. We will see in the morning.
July 22, 2009 Day 4 lost 3.5 lbs.
I have been on the HCG for 3 solid days and have NEVER felt hungry. I expected to once I started the
VLCD portion. Nope! I am still not hungry. It is weird to eat food with no dressings or little seasonings.
The food, especially the veggies aren't my favorite to eat. It is such a strange experience to not feel like eating at all. There is a psychological part of wanting to eat but the physical part of doing it isn’t enjoyable. Weird! All my life I have liked the “taste” of food. Food was an emotional and often social event. I can see I will need to learn to socially side step food for the next 45 days. I is easy to watch others eat when you are not hungry. Thank you Dr. Simeon!
July 23, 2009 Day 5 lost 2.3 lbs.
Well, that was easy! I lost another 2.3 pounds. I have mild – I mean MILD headache. I am allowed to take aspirin but it is so mild a headache I would prefer to not take it. I was still mentally prompted with late night snacking. That will pass once a new pattern is established during the evening hours. I’m encouraged.
July 24, 2009 Day 6 lost 1 lbs.
My weight loss for today was 1 LB and I suspect it will drop from here to the average of other patients. They say that .08 is the average amount lost per day for the average patient. I am still not hungry. This is my first day at a gig so let’s see how it goes.
July 25, 2009 Day 7 lost .08 lbs.
I had my first gig last night. The only problem I am having on this protocol is I don’t have a ton of energy right now. I am not weak per se, I just don’t feel as strong as I normally do. Other than that I am doing great.
July 26, 2009 Day 8 lost 1.1 lbs.
I went to a BBQ today. I didn't eat anything they served just what I brought. I do miss the social aspect of food. That is all. I am feeling not hungry just empty late in the day. I read that as normal in the protocol.
July 27, 2009 Day 9 lost 0.5 lbs.
I didn’t eat soon enough in the day. I ate lunch at 5 o’clock. That threw me way off schedule that is the reason for the ½ lb. loss. I will be more conscious of it in the future.
July 28, 2009 Day 10 lost .09 lbs.
I am back to normal. One pound loss this am. I am settling into a pattern. The mild headache I barely had went away. They spoke about allowing aspirin for it but it never got that bad. I still get a little tired when working out.
July 29, 2009 Day 11 lost 1.1 lbs.
I am eating earlier more regularly. Going smooth as sailing. I didn’t work out.
July 30, 2009 Day 12 lost 0.5 lbs.
Stayed strict on my schedule of eating. I made sure that I allowed a full 15 minutes before drinking or eating anything. I have been getting lax on that.
July 31, 2009 Day 13 lost 1.4 lbs.
Yesterday was my first gig until 1:30am. When I was done working I wasn’t so much hungry as just simply empty. I am going to have to adjust my food and dosing tomorrow to allow me to last until 3 or 4 am.
August 1, 2009 Day 14 lost .06 lbs.
I was right, dosing spacing has to be better managed. When working until 3am or 4am I have to save a snack until at least 10 o’clock so I have food too. We will see how tomorrow goes.
August 2, 2009 Day 15 lost 1.0 lbs.
I spread out the doses last night. I even ate my fruit at midnight and last dose at the end of the night. I worked because I lost a full pound. I am getting used to not drinking alcohol at gigs and eating after gigging like I used to. Gigs should be smoother from now on.
August 3, 2009 Day 16 lost .04 lbs.
I waited too long to dose. I thought that I should dose later but it didn’t work. I will go back to last dose at 10pm when gigging until 4am.
August 4, 2009 Day 17 lost 1.5 lbs.
Yesterday. I stuck to interval dosing and eating. I was like clockwork. The proof is on the scale this am
August 5, 2009 Day 18 lost 0.0 lbs.
I don’t understand. I committed no dietary errors. I re-read the section of Dr. Simeon’s protocol and he said that sometime your body just needs to catch up. I have lost consistently for two full weeks. Hopefully I am right and what Dr. Simeon described as water weight due to the breakdown of the fat cell infrastructure is causing the stall. I am not bummed right now but I will be diligent and to the letter on this today. Could I have taken too many doses. I am going to start keeping track of the doses on the dry eraser board in the kitchen just in case.
August 6, 2009 Day 19 gained .04 lbs.
WHAT HAPPENED! I have to find the error. After much research I realized that I accidentally mixed Barry’s Top Sirloin with my London Broil. Now that I have mixed up the two I will need to go to the store to buy new London Broil so I can be sure of what I am eating. Boy! My system is SO SENSITIVE to every calorie. I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL.
August 7, 2009 Day 20 lost 0.7 lbs.
That’s better. I stuck with chicken yesterday. I didn’t make up the deficit and feel I am getting behind in my goal. I think I need to get this perfection idea out of my head. Life isn’t perfect it is messy and if I think I am going to be able to loss perfectly every day I have another thing coming.
August 8, 2009 Day 21 gained 0.5 lbs.
I did nothing wrong. My only thought is one of the people I shook hand with at my show had
Shiny hands which meant she could have just put on hand lotion which is prohibited on the protocol.
August 9, 2009 Day 22 lost 1.0 lbs.
I hiked with Dennis and Barry. I was strict on the intervals of dosing and diet.
August 10, 2009 Day 23 lost 1.1 lbs.
Yes, now we are talking.
August 11, 2009 Day 24 gained 0.3 lbs.
I can’t find the problem. I haven’t touched anything. The protocol says to cut back on the tomatoes if you are eating them regularly. I have been. Let’s try that. Unless one of the people I shook hands with had lotion on them. My diet has been stellar. I have no explanation and am starting to get frustrated and scare. Why is this happening to me. Maybe this is another plateau like last week. I need to press through and hopefully I will start losing again. I need to see Lisa Fedele today and want to loss tomorrow but what if the hair product puts on the weight. YIKES!!!
August 12, 2009 Day 25 lost 0.1 lbs.
Now I am just pissed. I did nothing wrong. Now I am going to cut out the melba toast.
August 13, 2009 Day 26 lost 0.8 lbs.
I ate early and finally lost some weight. I get it in my mind that my body should work like clockwork and loss a pound a day EVERYDAY. I am beginning to realize that is unrealistic.
August 14, 2009 Day 27 lost 1.7 lbs.
I am starting to relax and just let happen what is going to happen. I can’t be a perfectionist about this. There are complicated biological things going on in my body. It would take a physician to explain what is changing in me. I am in uncharted territory for a layman. RELAX Linda. Everything will be fine.
August 15, 2009 Day 28 lost 0.1 lbs.
At least I lost. I am not going to worry about it.
August 16, 2009 Day 29 lost 0.7 lbs.
I am happy with this. I am not exercising this week. I am doing studio work on a new CD.
August 17, 2009 Day 30 lost 0.6 lbs.
At least I am consistently losing now. Please Lord, let that continue
August 18, 2009 Day 31 lost 1.0 lbs.
YEAH! I have lost 6 days in a row. Still not hungry. Haven’t been since day 1. I do still battle the mental part. It is tough to have Dennis over and to BBQ for Barry and him and not be part of it. It is weird but I feel like I am missing out on something. What keeps you on the straight and narrow is knowing ANY deviance from the precise food is guaranteed weight gain. I only have so many days to lose as much as I can. Please let me be smart Lord and stay on the straight and narrow.
August 19, 2009 Day 32 lost 0.2 lbs.
I had a few good days. BUT I added one more fruit back in and thing that that made the difference. Out it goes until I have regular loss.
August 20, 2009 Day 33 lost 1.0 lbs.
I have cut out both fruit and all melba toast. I am not using Tomatoes as one of my veggies.
August 21, 2009 Day 34 lost 0.7 lbs.
I have gigs today.
August 22, 2009 Day 35 lost 1.7 lbs.
Yahoo!!! I am hopeful.
August 23, 2009 Day 36 lost 1.5 lbs.
Yes, I am starting to lose again.
August 24, 2009 Day 37 lost 0.0 lbs.
I ate dinner late. IT KILLED MY WEIGHT LOSS.
August 25, 2009 Day 38 gained 0.4 lbs.
I added fruit back in. Obviously that wasn’t a good idea
August 26, 2009 Day 39 gained 1.6 lbs.
Just when I think I am back on course I do something totally stupid. I was BBQing for Barry and Dennis I was wrapping potatoes for the fire. I realized I forgot to use the latex gloves for the potatoes and my hands were covered with butter. Here’s your sign and your 1½ pound gain. IDIOT!!!!!
August 27, 2009 Day 40 lost 0.5 lbs.
Okay. I’ll take that.
August 28, 2009 Day 41 lost 1.9 lbs.
Looking better
August 29, 2009 Day 42 lost 2.0 lbs.
Wow. That is the biggest loss since the beginning of the protocol
August 30, 2009 Day 43 lost 0.6 lbs.
Keep going
August 31, 2009 Day 44 lost 0.2 lbs.
Last Almost there. Last dosing day I will need to maintain the 500 calories for the next three days
Sept 1, 2009 Day 45 lost 0.6 lbs.
Still losing
Sept 2, 2009 Day 46 lost 0.5 lbs.
Still losing and STILL not hungry
Sept 3, 2009 Day 47 lost 1.0 lbs.
Tomorrow it is on to any food except sugar and starches for 3 weeks then slowly adding sugar and starch back in to my diet.
October 2, 2009 1 month post HCG
The Cardinal Rule for the rest of my life is – “so long as you weight within EXACTLY 2 pounds (no ounces over) of the amount you weighted on your last Dose you are to eat normally”. As of today, I am still within 2 pounds of the amount I weighed on the last dosing date. I adjust my eating only when I approach that two-pound mark. It has been easy to maintain this weight. I really believe this is a cure because I have NEVER been able to keep weight off for 1 month. I have ALWAYS put on at least 2 lbs. within the month of stopping any diet. This works.

So glad you found a way to post this! It is a helpful resource!
Greetings to everyone.
I started HCG in Jan 2010. After 3 rounds I have successfully lost 35lbs and kept them off. It was a real struggle at times since I had major health issues. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease in Nov of 2010 and thanks to HCG and the diet protocol I have been able to stay at my low dose weight. The interesting thing about Phase 3 of the diet is it is really close to the Dr recommended diet for Lyme disease. I feel better when I stay on Phase 3 so carbs and sugars are not my friends.
The best part of HCG is not my story, it is my brother in law. He is 56 and developmentally disabled. In April he joined me on the HCG diet. His beginning weight was 360lbs. Today he weighed in at 248. I could just cry he is doing so well. He is on his third round and has been determined to stay with the program. He has gone from a size 60 jacket to size 50. I think by summer he will be at or under 200lbs for the first time since he graduated fronm high school. HCG is the most wonderful program for both of us.
Thank you for sharing the journey with us.
I am beyond happy for both you and your brother. This is a wonderful story to read!!
Hello Linda! I have a few questions, if you don't mind. I was wondering what your total weight loss was. Also, since you did 45 doses, did you skip one day per week to prevent becoming immune to the HCG? And lastly...it's been a little over 2 years since you finished, are you still within 2 lbs? Thanks for any answers. I am on load day 2 and start the VLCD tomorrow. Happy to be here!
My total weight loss was 35.3 for my first round. There is no need to skip doses with hCG only with sublingual hCG only with the injections. I did fine up until a few months ago when my body began going through the change and I started to add weight. I am currently on a round of hCG to fix that.
Thank you for the reply. Just to be clear...there is no need to skip doses when taking the HCG drops that I get from YourHCG.com? BTW, 35.3 pounds is fantastic! Congratulations! I just started the VLCD today and am looking forward to seeing the number on my scale begin to go down. :-)
Yes, you heard me correctly. Thank you for your compliment. Like so may others Dr. Simeons and his protocol changed my life
