What I would like you to do is to continue on for 1 more week. Then wean and move to Phase 3. You might have a little more trouble with the final stabilization in Phase 3 but if you are patient we will make sure this has no lasting affects. Can you give me 1 more week? Hang in there sweetie, I am pulling for you! You are not alone.
Sure...I can do a week, but I am so mentally tired from all of this. I'm tired of being hungry...I hate being the only person that can't eat and then feeling guilty when I do.
Doing this diet alone when everyone around you is eating whatever they want is painful. I had family in town last weekend and it was bread and wine and cocktails and beer and salad dressing (which I crave like no other) and pizza and pasta and alfredo sauce...it's more than one person should have to bear after 30+ days of eating chicken and celery. I don't think anyone NOT on this diet understands how difficult it is.
My head is definitely in a bad place right now....all I can hear my brain screaming is "FAT!!!!!" when I look at the scale, even though I'm 25 lbs less than I was in June. That 6 lbs gained absolutely crushed what little self confidence I had been building up over this last week.
Awwwww sweetie! My heart is breaking for you. Try to keep in mind this is just temporary, it won't always be like this. I'm here if you need me.
You are absolutely right that no-one who has not done this protocol can really understand. We here do. We've been where you are, or close to it. I am only 5 days into this, my 3rd round, but I went 60 days earlier this year and it was GRUELING!!! I won't do that again. I think what Linda is trying to help you do, is pull up out of the dive you are in and salvage what you have lost. If you don't move into P3 in a stable place, if you don't manage your P3 well, there is a very real possibility that you could gain back what you have lost.
When I get into that headplace where you are, I try to keep reminding myself that "I can do anything. ANY. THING. for a short amount of time." (It's like an AA thing. One day at a time.) Set a specific goal: "Today I will follow protocol impeccably - I will make sure that I have all of my food items prepared and available ahead of time. I will have water in my hand all day long. I will NOT allow myself to be out in the world and hungry. I KNOW that there is a difference between WANT and NEED. I can do THIS for one day"
If you need to cancel some social stuff for a few days to get through this week, so be it (I really try to plan my P2 around known social temptations).
Try not to think about it as "oh man, why can't I do this or that like everyone else does???", try to reframe it as "I am attacking this challenge with a ferocity and intensity that no-one else is!!!"
You only have a few more days of super restriction, then you will have more food choice freedom.

Thanks ladies - the reason I come back here to vent is because I DO know you guys understand and support what is happening here.
I can say that I know I won't go off this diet and start gorging on things I shouldn't be eating - it's simply the "mental" aspect of knowing I can't have them that is driving me to want them more when they are around. Once I get to phase 3 and I know I'm working myself back into the world of eating normally, I won't crave those things. That's what happened the first time around...well, until I went on vacation anyway, and again, that was because it was everywhere and I COULDN'T have it. That's the biggest hurdle in this diet to overcome and your advice is sound Jacque...for the next 8 weeks, I really have to just stay away from the temptations. I did really well at my grandma's 90th birthday back in July - I didn't eat anything I wasn't supposed to. So I know I have it in me to stick to the plan...I just have to follow through.
I guess food has been a much more dominant factor in my life than I realized - this diet has definitely shown me that. There is a significant difference between just eating too much and letting food play a central role in your life. That's a rude awakening.
I know this sounds strange but see if watching the Food Network doesn't fill the cravings. It really does work for some of us. It's weird but the mental need is filled by it.
